18th June

Just a quick update, the Sparrows have covered over their nest near the top of the box so the camera cannot see much. However, we can see movement in the nest and know that there are chicks inside (which we can hear outside from the garden!). Both parents have been in feeding and cleaning out the nest. We will keep you updated and try to bring you some images soon!

1st June

There are now 3 eggs in Box 3 and the female sparrow has been in sitting on the nest whilst the male has been bringing in more nesting material for the nest. Unlike the Blue Tit nest, the eggs sit right on the bottom wood of the box whilst in the Blue Tit box they were on nesting material.

31st May

There are currently two eggs in Box 3. The female sparrow has been in and out sitting on the nest, which compared to the Blue Tit nest, is very untidy and looks uncomfortable. Whilst the Blue Tit nest has lots of soft feathers and moss, the Sparrow nest is made of twigs and dry leaves.

30th May

We have installed a temporary camera inside Box 3 to provide us with video from one pair of nesting sparrows in our garden. We are not sure if this nest will be successful but we will keep watching and keep adding to this diary with info, pictures and video in the following weeks. We will also try to get the camera live on the website for you to view at home
