Unfortunately, the female has not been back to the nest at all today. We are unsure what has happened. As the camera moved about in the tree a lot, we could not set up motion recording. She had been sitting on the nest for some time and any eggs were probably due to hatch. We will get up into the tree and have a peek into the nest to see if anything is there.

A few days ago we discovered a Goldfinch pair had been busy building a nest in a tree in our Front Garden. We had seen the pair quite regularly on our feeders but never realised they were nesting so close! We kept a keen eye on these pair as it is nice to see some different birds nesting.

With an opportunity too good to miss, during the middle of the day when the the pair seemed to visit elsewhere, we managed to fix up a camera to monitor the nest. Unfortunately, the camera is not the best quality but it was all that was available and mildly waterproof! The camera is attached to another branch opposite the nest cup. It looks like the nest is moving around a lot in the wind but it is actually the camera branch and the nest is quite sturdy.
